Heritage Days 2016

Heritage Days in Yellowknife will be held February 19 to 21. All events are free of charge and brought to you by the City of Yellowknife Heritage Committee. 

Friday, February 19. Music at the Wildcat Cafe, 7:00 to 11:00 pm. Join Ryan McCord and other local musicians for an evening of entertainment in celebration of the city's heritage. Light refreshments will be served.

Saturday, February 20. City Bus Tours, 12:00 to 3:00 pm. Meet in front of City Hall and join Bobby Drygeese on a bus tour that will highlight some of Yellowknife's cultural sites.

Saturday, February 20. Heritage Social, Northern Frontier Visitors Centre, 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Come mingle with heritage enthusiasts at a potluck meet and greet event. This event will include presentations by some of our local history gurus. Free to the public. Brought to you by the City of Yellowknife Heritage Committee and the NWT Mining Heritage Society.

Sunday, February 21. Amazing Family Sunday, Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, 2:00 to 4:00 pm. RAVENS AND ROCKHOUNDS - A living history performance by Jamie Bastedo. Join the ghost of Yellowknife prospector, naturalist, collector and middle-school namesake, William McDonald (aka “Bill Mac”) as he shares his love of the land with entertaining stories of discovery, from minerals to mallards. A fun family event full of surprises! You are encouraged to bring some favourite item you’ve collected from nature to show Bill. Free dressup and photobooth hosted by the NWT Mining Heritage Society.
